| Course Description: |
Syllabus: International logistics is an important functional aspect of the management of international companies and an integral part of their international strategies. Globalisation requires firms to design products for international markets and to rationalise their purchasing, production and distribution choices accordingly. Using cases, the course explores key issues in international logistics and their strategic importance. It places logistics in the context of the growth of international business and covers the logistics concept, interdependent modes of transportation, the role of transportation in global supply chain management, design of logistics systems, and key cost implications of modes of transport and inventory management. |
| Learning Outcomes: |
By the end of the course students will be able to understand, analyse and evaluate the organization and role of international logistics, particularly its place in the international strategies that firms pursue. Students will be able to communicate their understanding in a clear and concise way through exams, group and individual assignments and company and case presentations. |
