Course Description:

This course serves as an introduction to finance for the participants, and include introductory financial concepts and mathematics where appropriate. The emphasis of the course is on the financial aspects of a corporation, and the topics include issues like optimal mix of debt and equity financing, cost of capital, project evaluation, dividend decisions and valuations. Latest techniques like Value Based Management adopted by major international consultancy firms to enhance shareholders’ wealth would also be introduced. The learning process would be reinforced by the practical applications of the concepts and techniques covered in the course.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this course students should have an understanding of and be able to apply the techniques outlined in the course description.

Assessment may include a combination of individual or group reports or assignments, a test or examination and class participation.
