Course Description:

Contemporary International Art: Critical Themes brings together contemporary issues and themes across the broad scope of the Art History, Museums and Curatorship program offered in the School of Humanities. The course addresses these three core areas of study within a contemporary context so that students can examine contemporary art practise against the grain of institutional, curatorial, ideological and historical frameworks. The course exploits the diversity of approaches offered within the program and introduces students to ideas regarding a 1980s and beyond ‘community’ of art.

Indicative Assessment:

Tutorial Discussion (10%), Tutorial Paper of 1500 words (20%), Art Writing Project ? 1000 words (25%), Research Essay of 2500 words (45%).

Workload: One 2-hour lecture per week and one 1-hour tutorial per week.
