| Course Description: |
This course aims to study Byzantine art, cultural institutions and patronage from AD 330 to AD 1204. Specific works of art and architecture ranging in provenance from Syria and Armenia to Constantinople and Sicily will be studied in the context of the society: theology and liturgy; politics and investment; court ceremony; and urban, provincial and monastic life. |
