Course Description:	This course is the initial oral component of a one-year intensive beginners program in Modern Standard Chinese (Putonghua or Mandarin).
Learning Outcomes:	Active knowledge of Chinese basic conversation. To introduce students to the Chinese sentence patterns, pragmatic norms in spoken Chinese.
Indicative Assessment:	Periodic oral assignments (20%); In-class performance (20%); Listening tests (20%); Final oral examination (40%).
Workload:	This course requires five hours of attendance per week.
