Course Description: Students will select an approved topic from a range of classical world themes (historical, literary, or cultural) in consultation with the convener.
Learning Outcomes: With the completion of the seminar the student will have read deeply in and given a thought to a particular field of classical world studies. He/she will also have developed skills in collecting, reading, analysing and evaluating evidence; formulating an argument; presenting it orally to a group of scholars; and writing up the discussion in clear and readable prose.
Indicative Assessment:

50% essays (two x 3000 words)

Examination (50%)

Workload: Weekly meetings with convener plus fourteen hours reading, research and writing.  A language component may be included (one hour).
