| Course Description: |
This course continues directly from the first semester course Formal Structures for New Media 1. It explores conceptual, compositional structures and their application to the visual and sonic domains with an emphasis on logical structures and systematic procedures. A number of traditional formal structures and algorithms are examined in the light of contemporary practice in new media, including recursive structures and stochastic processes. The course uses techniques from mathematics, information technology and digital arts to explore the logic of the structures and their application in the development of visual and sonic vocabularies for new media arts. |
