| Course Description: |
This course provides a theoretical and empirical discussion of labour markets. Topics include: labour supply and the determinants of hours of work, migration, investments in human capital, labour demand, wage determination, discrimination, internal labour markets, trade unions, and macroeconomic issues related to wages and unemployment. |
| Learning Outcomes: |
The purpose of te course is to give an introduction to the basic theoretical models and a taste of the empirical analysis that characterizes labour economics. |
| Indicative Assessment: |
Mid-semester exam (34%) and a two hour final exam (66%). |

At least an average of 65% (or equivalent) in the final two years of an Australian undergraduate degree with introductory level courses in Economics, Statistics and Econometrics |
Assumed Knowledge and Required Skills: |
Students are expected to have solid preparation in microeconomics and calculus and an introductory course in statistics and regression analysis. |
