| Course Description: |
This course focuses on key issues in the financial policy and strategy development of firms. It covers the theory of the firm, strategic options, the financing of corporate strategies, strategic positioning, and corporate governance. Theories are used to examine the forces and factors that influence the strategies pursued by corporations and the governance of those firms. A particular aim of the course is to examine the interaction between corporate finance and strategy formulation using a case study methodology to highlight the dynamic approach needed for the firm to survive in today's business climate. In order to reinforce the strategic tools and cases we learn in class you will be responsible for producing a set of case studies of a selected firm. These cases will allow you to incorporate accounting and corporate finance techniques studied in previous courses. |
