The aim of the course is to provide students with a detailed understanding of a number of issues in visual and cognitive neuroscience. These topics will be presented by a number of researchers in these areas, from both the Department of Psychology and the research Departments. Topics that will be covered may include: detailed analysis of the various types of functional mapping techniques, and their application to the study of specific tasks and disorders; the biological basis of reading and dyslexia; processing and representation of faces; the role that eye movements play in visual processing and the neural implementation of that process; neuronal modelling and insect navigation. The class size will be kept small. This is an Honours Pathway Course that involves material of a greater conceptual difficulty and research orientation than a typical Group B course. |
