Career Possibilities
The demand by employers for Asian Studies graduates is keen and ever increasing. The Religions (Asian Societies) degree program offers a new life experience. It also builds a vocational edge. Increasingly, religion is seen as a key driver in Asian politics, business and societies, as well as in the international relations of the region. Asian Studies graduates of the ANU are finding employment in areas such as the media, marketing, international trade, banking and finance, the tourist industry, and federal and state government departments with policy interests in Asia. Graduates have been employed by a wide range of organisations such as major national and international consulting firms, Non-Government Organisations (including aid, humanitarian and human rights agencies), the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Boral Asia, Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, the Department of Defence, Cathay Pacific, Coopers & Lybrand, Deacons Graham & James, Hyundai Corporation, Japan External Trade Organisation, KPMG, Price Waterhouse and the World Bank.Detailed advice on the career implications of particular degree choices is available from the University’s Careers and Employment Centre.
