The Master of Environmental Science offers a flexible interdisciplinary platform for those wishing to develop both breadth and depth in aspects of environmental science and resource management. MEnvSc graduates can expect to:

• Gain a high level of knowledge of specific subjects reflecting their interests, as well as a general knowledge of contemporary issues and challenges in environmental science and resource management;
• Develop their independent learning, analytical and research, teamwork, and oral and written communication skills;
• Have better developed networks relevant to their academic and professional interests;
• Consequently be better placed to respond to the challenges of sustainability through their chosen careers.

The scope of the MEnvSc is broad, reflecting ANU’s diversity and strength in the environmental sciences and resource management. The flexibility of course requirements for the degree allows programs to be structured to meet individual interests; all students are required to develop expertise in a nominated area through independent research and major essay or sub-thesis components. Typically, this will build on coursework structured to reflect both the student’s background and interests and ENVS’ principal research and teaching themes.

Candidates must have an appropriate Bachelor degree with Honours at First Class or Second Class Division A level in resource and environmental management (or a cognate discipline); or an appropriate Graduate Diploma from a recognised university at merit (>70%) or distinction level. Work in an approved field for a number of years, and publications can also be taken into account in evaluating a case for admission.
