The Master of Biotechnology is a coursework graduate program which provides a pathway for biological science graduates to acquire knowledge, or extend and renew their knowledge, of biotechnological principles and applications. The program is designed to give students both theoretical and practical knowledge of modern biotechnology methodologies.

The program aims to provide students with:

    1. a sound theoretical knowledge of the biological processes commonly used in biotechnology;

    2. practical knowledge of common methodologies used in biotechnology;

    3. skills which enable them to interpret, synthesize and critically analyse the published literature;

    4. the capacity to apply their knowledge and skills to biotechnological problems.

The program combines online and contact coursework with opportunities to acquire or extend practical skills. It will usually be available from July each year and will take 12 months to complete courses with total value 48 units.

Prerequisites

Bachelor of Science or equivalent with a major in the field of biological sciences with relevant experience or honours. Applicants with the equivalent of a pass degree may be admitted if they have a high level of relevant academic achievement.
